Welcome to Ards Friary

Ards Buildings

Ards Friary aims to welcome everyone and is available throughout the year for Retreats (preached, directed, private etc) Conferences, Seminars, periods of rest and relaxation, reflection, prayer and holidays.

We all need to take time out from the hectic life cycle of work to refocus on what is really important to us. Why not let Ards Friary become a part of your life.

You can find out more about each retreat by clicking the appropriate link. Opposite is a list of the retreats that will be happening this year.

The daily rate for staying at Ards on a private retreat on a full board basis is €55 per day.

If you wish to make a private retreat at a time that a group event is advertised, you are more than welcome, as we generally would have rooms available.

SAINT OF THE WEEK

"When I die, I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens,I will spend my heaven by doing good on earth.”

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.”

"Go often to Holy Communion. Go very often! This is your one remedy.”

"We must never refuse anyone, even when it costs us much pain. Think that it is Jesus who is asking this service of you; how eager and friendly you will then be in granting the favor requested."

"I assure you that the good Lord is much kinder than you can imagine. He is satisfied with a glance, with a sigh of love... In regard to myself, I find it easy to practice perfection, because I have learned that the way to Jesus is through His Heart. Consider a small child who has vexed his mother by a display of bad temper or disobedience. If the child hides in a corner through fear of punishment, he feels that his mother will not forgive him. But if instead, he extends his little arms towards her and with a smile cries out: ‘Love, kiss me, mamma, I will not do it again,’ will not his mother press the little one to her heart with tenderness, and forget what the child has done? And yet, though she knows very well that her dear little one will misbehave again at the first opportunity, that means nothing if the child appeals to her heart. He will never be punished..."

"The world's thy ship and not thy home.”

"Holiness consists simply in doing God's will, and being just what God wants us to be.”

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep your priests within the shelter of your sacred heart, where none may touch them.
Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch your sacred body.
Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with your precious blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of your priesthood.
Let your holy love surround them, and shield them from the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit,
and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here on earth,
and in heaven, their everlasting crown.
Mary, Mother of Priests, pray for priests and vocations to the priesthood.
St. Therese of Lisieux
